Carolyn started Amo Torta in April 2013. After graduating with an honours degree she realised where her true passion lay. Throughout her childhood, she spent most weekends and school holidays in her Gran’s kitchen. It was here she was at her happiest and where her love of baking started
TURNING A PROBLEM INTO AN OPPORTUNITY
After family members developed intolerances to gluten, Carolyn began to research the market and tried several mass produced “free-from” cakes available in supermarkets. However, there was very little available that tasted close to wheat based alternatives. From this, Amo Torta was born!
Carolyn decided to start up the business, using her own recipes to create gluten and wheat free versions of all her family favourites! Ranging from Caramel Shortbread to Brownies to Carrot Cake. As the business has developed, there has been an increasing demand for not only gluten fee cakes, but also, egg free, dairy free, completely vegan and reduced sugar cakes. New recipes are continuously being to tested so no request is too big or too small.
WHY SETTLE?
The aim of the business is simple. Coeliacs and people who have intolerances should not always have to settle for less when it comes to cakes or miss out on the treats they love. Regardless of their intolerances, we want our customers to enjoy eating our cakes as much as we enjoy baking them!
